his dark glasses reflect black

a cross dangles from the chain on his neck

backdropped by the white wooden steeple

he wears a white clerical collar

the chains and collars of the white christ

embroyonic life in sliced white bread

syringes lurk in the air

like a dream, an imagined unseen bell rings

rite or right

black or white

death or deliverance

the black man smiles.
