EYRIE The courtyard of an old Cuban house is sky and forest cradled indoors, no ceiling or roof, just a rim of stone and tile overgrown with fungus, iguanas, mosquitoes, and flowering vines. Angels and parrots perch on the tendrils, peering down at the walled lives of humans. The angels are almost motionless--- only their assymetric flight feathers tremble with compassion, sending a breeze of wonder down into the games of children and the daydreams of an old woman who gazes up at meteors, watching the winged light of movement, this closeness of sky.
