Alessandra Gallo Born in Turin (Italy) in 1970, I received a degree in
Foreign Languages and Literature from the University
of Turin in 1994. My thesis concerned the use of
poetry in the teaching of English in Italian schools,
since I already had a crush on teaching. On poetry. On
words. In 1996 I married and began moving often due to
my husband's job. After our second child was born, we
returned to Turin where I am currently working as EFL
teacher. I started writing English poetry in December
2003 and simply couldn't stop. I now write poetry and
short stories in my native language as well, and some
very short poems in French too. Experimenting with
different sounds and rhythms has been an incredible
and rewarding experience. Framing my thoughts,
especially in a language that is not my native one, is
a way to achieve a better understanding of my own
feelings.
