Recovery I wonder Do you enjoy faking your strength Belting out anthems of female empowerment In your charming and off key way Shaking your ass Doing that little bump and grind you do When you are mad Or hurt To shake off the pain that man has left you in Again I think about this And I wait for your call Asking for solace It's Saturday night You always call When he comes home drunk Smelling of strange... Well You know I wash the filth of him from your skin Wash him out of your hair Sit on the wet floor Holding your hand As your tears rinse you clean I wrap you up In my arms In my bed Where it is warm and safe In the morning you use the dawn As your fresh start Pack your things and my heart in your overnight bag Stand at the mirror and paint on the smile My lips kissed away the night before There are no anthems to empower me They don’t make them for my kind Not even on a subliminal level So when you go Close the door behind you I won't bump and grind Or paint on smiles I will put on something sad and slow Mop up your bathwater And wait for your next call Juliana Vargas |
