Less Resistance I lie awake listening to the sepulchral voices reincarnated against justice and the working class. They sound off like a televangelist under a dimly lit sky through thick blinds, their threats and promises carry through a dusty mind half-awake, well in doubt of what was heard. Feverishly, I lower the sheets and check the clock. This early morning hour brings false reasoning to a head. I try to resist my own temptation to shout back but give in. I surprise myself in sounding off like a bomb in the mail, what sounded like adults turn out to be children; they scatter like pigeons from passing cars. Joseph Veronneau |
