THE BIGGEST TRAIN IN HISTORY
a poem by Dominick Isaac
Did he meet you on a Friday,
When you were a giddy shop girl
Looking for a new chance in life,
Having a little too much to drink?
Did he buy you a new dress on Saturday,
Twirl you dizzy on the dance floor
With the whole world watching?
Did he whisper in your ear
that he would show you
the biggest train in history?
Did he stroll with you on Sunday,
His arm around your waist,
Sun shining, flowers nodding,
Children laughing?
Did he lead you by the hand
And lay down with you
on the railroad tracks?
