In a cup of tea
a poem by Alessandra Gallo I talk to you
and melt my face
in a cup of tea
stir cheekbones and eyelids
as if made of clay
sculpt them over
in a crazy whirlwind
of drowned cells
pick up an eye
with my tablespoon
let it drip
in the cup again
watching steam
rise to the ceiling
and when I realize
you're watching me for real
I recompose myself in your smile.
