Love For Sale

Ladies swing purses,
they call me out, a gambler
in a land of less is more, "I'm lonely,
she says, "You look lonely, too. Let's be lonely together."
She takes my hand. She shows me the way to her place

I climb the stairs. I enter an enormous room,
a wall of mirrors with a bed in the middle.
Revealing what I am, revealing her curves,
"It's hot in here," she says, "If you would be so kind,"
standing at her back. I undo her dress,
the penny drops. Before me filigree, "Come closer,"
she says, "Don't be afraid, I know you want to know me better."

Unafraid, I remove the hooks. I like what I see.
I say, "May I touch your curves with my lips." She lets me read her
body, turns herself around,

She says, "It's time
to get a look at you," she uncovers me, "Now
I know who you are." She touches me with her lips.
I want her to be with me. I want the words of my mouth to be
with her, wet and warm. I want to love her because
at this moment I know she tells what I am, where I belong.

We finish. I give her everything I have.
I look at myself, at her, again, as we
in the mirror. "Can I see you once more," I say.
She gives me her card, "Thank you for your time,
it was enlightening. I wasn't really lonely,"
I blush, "I wanted to get away
from myself, to find
something else that was more interesting"

"It was nothing," she smiles, "I'm glad
you found what you wanted." She takes my hand.
She reminds me to get dressed

"A kiss to remember you by," I say,
"Allow me," I pick up her clothes.

"Please do," she says.

I return the filigree upon her, fumbling
with the hooks. She smiles. I takeher dress.
It fits her as it did, when I first saw her.
"I know, I've changed," I take my clothes,
get dressed, "Let's go back into the light, together," I say

"Maybe later," she says. She kisses me.
"It's bad for business. Someone might think
I wasn't lonely."
